The History of Endermologie
In the mid 1980's Louis Paul Guitay (LPG), a French engineer, was receiving manual physical therapy to soften contracted scars he was left with after an accident. To standardize and facilitate the work of the therapist, he developed a mechanical device based on the principles of manual skin rolling. It powered a computer driven handheld massaging head that delivered intermittent suction and rolling to the area being treated as well as to the sub adjacent soft tissue. The LPG Technique was invented by Louis Paul Guitay. Endermologie: Massage therapy by vacuum suction
Endermologie is a deep massage therapy done with vacuum suction so that the skin and subcutaneous tissue (dermis and some fat) is kneaded into a rolling device while negative pressure holds the skin in the rollers. It may reduce bulk slightly but temporarily. It may smoothen uneven contour with cellulite, but again, it is a temporary effect. Most patients undergo Endermologie treatment two or three times per week for a month, and then may continue with once per month, or less, to maintain their result.
